Delta is the latest U.S. airline to hike fees for checked bags.

The first checked bag on domestic and select short-haul international flights will rise from $35 to $45, beginning with tickets purchased April 8. The second checked bag is going from $45 to $55.

The move follows fee increases implemented last week by JetBlue and United. JetBlue said it increased bag fees in response to increased jet fuel costs during the Iran war.

U.S. jet fuel prices averaged $4.69 per gallon on April 6, according to Argus, up from $2.50 when the war began.
