Hawaiian Airlines kicked off a nonstop route between Long Beach, Calif., and Kahului, Maui, on March 10.
The new route marks the company's second daily nonstop flight out of the Southern California airport. Hawaiian first began flying out of Long Beach to Honolulu in 2018.
"Long Beach has been an incredibly popular gateway for our visitors and Hawaii residents traveling to Southern California, and we are pleased to make it even more convenient for our guests to travel between Long Beach and Maui with our new daily, nonstop service," Brent Overbeek, senior vice president of revenue management and network planning at Hawaiian Airlines, said in a statement.
Flight HA72 departs Long Beach daily at 8:35 a.m., with a 12:35 p.m. scheduled arrival time on Maui. The flight from Maui to Long Beach, HA71, departs at 12:45 p.m. and arrives at 8:05 p.m.
The Long Beach-Maui route will operate with Airbus A321neo aircraft equipped with 16 first-class and 44 Extra Comfort seats as well as 129 seats in the main cabin.
Hawaiian Airlines is also offering a Covid-19 testing service for its passengers in order to comply with the state's Safe Travels program that enables arriving travelers to bypass a 10-day quarantine with proof of a negative result on an approved test. In partnership with Long Beach-based Worksite Labs, Hawaiian Airlines passengers can schedule a Covid-19 test with results within 36 hours for $90. Guests who receive a negative test result then receive a "preclear wristband" during boarding that enables them to bypass airport screening in Hawaii.
