Hawaiian Airlines will begin auctioning unfilled first-class seats.

Bid Up, as the program is called, is available to all ticketed passengers on flights the airline operates between Hawaii and North America. For each flight with extra first-class seats, coach customers will receive an email approximately 10 days ahead of departure inviting them to bid on the upgrade. Winning bidders will be notified 48 hours ahead of the flight.

“We understand travelers have different options when planning trips to Hawaii, which is why we’re committed to providing each guest with unique offerings and exceptional benefits,” Miranda Scott, managing director of travel products for Hawaiian, said of the new program.
