Icelandair will extend summer seasonal service from Baltimore and Raleigh-Durham to year-round beginning next winter as part of changes that will increase the airline's capacity next winter to 17% above 2019.
Winter service between Baltimore and Reykjavik will be daily, while service next winter between Raleigh-Durham and Reykjavik will be offered four times weekly.
U.S. travelers connecting on Icelandair through Reykjavik will have new European destinations next winter due to the carrier extending its summer service to Rome and Barcelona into year-round offerings.
The carrier also plans to increase frequencies next winter from Chicago O'Hare, Minneapolis, New York JFK and Boston. From New York and Boston, Icelandair will offer its first winter daytime flights. The winter service will go in effect in October.
"The expansion of frequency and year-round destinations in our North American network will give further flexibility, allowing for greater connectivity and easy transatlantic connections," Icelandair chief revenue officer Thomas Ingason said in a prepared remark. "The year-round daytime flights from Boston and New York also offer convenient departure times, as well as numerous connections around the U.S. with Icelandair's partnerships with JetBlue and Alaska Airlines."
