Club Med plans to open five new resorts per year over the
next five years as well as execute major renovations to five current resorts
per year, said CEO Henri Giscard D'Estaing.
Club Med Turkoise in Turks and Caicos reopened its doors in January following
hurricane repairs and will earn its fourth Trident (the company's rating
system) in May due to the recent upgrades and upcoming enhancements that
include new deluxe rooms with balconies, a new wine cellar and wellness area
and tech updates.
This summer, Club Med Buccaneer's Creek in Martinique will
renovate its main restaurant Pays Meles and change its L'o specialty restaurant
into a new beach lounge.
Club Med Cancun Yucatan will complete an expansion program
in July that will feature 60 new family rooms and a new oceanfront pool.
In Italy, Club Med Cefalu in Sicily opens this summer on the
site of the former Club Med Cefalu on Sicily's northern coast from 1956 to
2006. The new resort will be the first Five Trident resort in Europe, and will have
some 300 guestrooms, a spa, three restaurants, three bars and activities that
include sailing, electric surfboarding, tennis and archery.
Les Arcs Panorama, a ski resort in Savoie, France, will open
in December, following the opening of Club Med Samoans Morillon Grand Massif in
Samoans, France last December.
In China, Club Med is testing a new venture for the company:
a new short-vacation-style hotel to introduce the brand to the Chinese market.
The Club Med Joyview project will create several new hotels in the next few
years, all within a three-hour drive from a major city in China.
Already open is the 308-room Club Med Joyview Golden Coast
in Hebei province and the Club Med Joyview Anji in Zhejiang province.
Opening later this year is the Club Med Joyview Great Wall
in Hebei province.
Club Med Guilin recently added a two-story indoor sports
complex.
In the Maldives, renovations at Club Med Kani include a new
scuba center and Mini Club.
Other openings still to come include Club Med Ho Tram near
Ho Chi Minh city in 2021, Club Med Lombok will open in Indonesia in 2019, Club
Med Ceylon in Sri Lanka in 2019 and a Club Med in the Seychelles in 2020.
The company plans to renovate its Club Med La Pointe aux
Canonizers resort in Mauritius.
A new ski resort will open in 2020 in Quebec.
New capabilities to the Club Med Resort App will allow
guests to access information about sports, dining, activities and events, make
requests to housekeeping staff and book services, such as spa appointments,
excursions and specialty restaurant reservations.
