Disneyland Park's French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square will become Tiana's Palace, based on the 2009 animated film "The Princess and the Frog."

The redesigned restaurant is part of a larger initiative to bring "The Princess and the Frog" and its characters to Disney parks. The Splash Mountain attractions in Disneyland and Disney World are being rethemed to Tiana's Bayou Adventure. In Disneyland, a retail shop based on the characters, Eudora's Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana's Gourmet Secrets, recently opened in New Orleans Square.

The existing French Market Restaurant and Mint Julep Bar (known for its nonalcoholic mint julep and Mickey beignets) will close on Feb. 17 for work to begin on Tiana's Palace. The quick-service restaurant and bar will reopen later this year, Disney said.
