Walt Disney World has completed a multiyear revamp of the
Coronado Springs Resort, with the new 545-room Gran Destino Tower as the
centerpiece.
Named for the Disney animated short film "Destino,"
the tower opened to the public on Tuesday and brought the resort's total room
count to 2,385.
The Catalan-themed Gran Destino accommodations feature Old
World decor touches, including Spanish tile-inspired wall coverings. Each of
the tower's guestrooms showcase a new interactive television system, allowing
guests to view their Disney PhotoPass images on the in-room TV and stream
entertainment from their personal devices.
The Gran Destino Tower also has a number of rooms that give
guests admittance to the tower's Chronos Club. The club is staffed by Disney
cast members who can assist with vacation planning. Light refreshments are
served throughout the day.
In addition to guestrooms, the new tower houses a two-story
lobby and the lower lobby-level Barcelona Lounge, which serves coffee by day
and cocktails during the evening. There are two 16th-floor rooftop venues: the
table-service restaurant Toledo -- Tapas, Steak & Seafood and the adjacent
Dahlia Lounge.
Toledo features a Spanish-inspired menu and an "onstage
tapas kitchen" that specializes in small plates, charcuterie and cheeses. Dahlia
Lounge pairs cocktails with panoramic views.
Additional amenities include new meeting and event space,
with the tower's outdoor Destino Plaza available as a venue for weddings or
business events.
Along with the addition of the Gran Destino Tower, other
changes at Coronado Springs Resort include three new pedestrian bridges, which
connect over a lake and provide guests with quicker passage throughout the
property. At the center of the three pathways is Three Bridges Bar & Grill,
a new outdoor waterfront restaurant.
Concurrently, all of the existing guestrooms at Coronado
Springs have received full updates and now feature new bathroom fixtures,
furnishings, lighting and color palettes.
