InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced that its first non-U.S. property under its wellness-oriented Even Hotels brand will open in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2020.
The 200-room Even Hotel Auckland, to be located at the corner of Albert and Wyndham Streets, will be the first of as many as 15 Even properties to be developed by Pro-Invest Group, which last year reached an agreement with IHG to take the Even Hotels brand to Australasia.
Even Hotels are new-build properties featuring amenities such as in-room training zones, a food and beverage program that focuses on healthier choices and fitness centers that are larger-than-average for select-service brands.
IHG opened its first Even Hotel in Norwalk, Conn., in 2014, and has opened five more since then. The company has started taking reservations for stays starting in December for a property in Eugene, Ore.
