Intrawest sale to Fortress set to go through

Vancouver-based resort developer Intrawest received Canadian government approval for its sale to private investment firm Fortress Investment Group at $35 a share or $2.76 billion in cash and debt. The transaction was expected to close by Oct. 27.

Intrawest owns 10 North American resorts, including Whistler Blackcomb in Whistler, B.C., and Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Fla., as well as tour operators Abercrombie & Kent and Canadian Mountain Holidays.
