Melia Hotels International will drop Falcon's Resort branding for one of its Punta Cana all-inclusive resorts and bring back the Paradisus name.

The Falcon's Resort by Melia, All Suites Punta Cana will reflag as the Paradisus Grand Cana on Jan. 15.

We've tested the market and we've tested the brand, and we think Paradisus has the stronger perception and the potential to grow.– Melia Hotels International COO Andre Gerondeau

The property had operated as the Paradisus Grand Cana but was redeveloped and reopened as the Falcon's Resort by Melia in early 2023 as part of a joint venture between Melia Hotels International and entertainment-development company Falcon's Beyond. (A second phase of the project was going to involve a rebranding of the nearby Garden Suites by Melia.)

Billed as a "resortainment hospitality experience," the Falcon's Resort brand was designed to complement Falcon's Katmandu Park Punta Cana theme park, which is adjacent to the resort.

Melia Hotels International COO Andre Gerondeau said the rollout of the Falcon's Resort concept has been "a learning experience."

"We've tested the market and we've tested the brand, and we think Paradisus has the stronger perception and the potential to grow," Gerondeau said.

He added that the Katmandu Park tie-in will remain "embedded in our Paradisus hotels in Punta Cana." For example, the Paradisus Grand Cana's 432 accommodations will include 108 "Katmandu Experience" swim-up suites. According to Melia Hotels International, these suites will offer enhanced amenities and services, as well as complimentary access to Katmandu Park Punta Cana.

Gerondeau also said that Melia plans to continue expanding its cluster of co-located Punta Cana properties, detailing plans to break ground on a Zel-branded property this May. Melia unveiled the Zel lifestyle brand in partnership with tennis champion Rafael Nadal in late 2022 and opened the first Zel hotel last year in Mallorca.

The Paradisus Grand Cana and the new Zel project are part of a Punta Cana complex that includes the Paradisus Palma Real Golf & Spa Resort, the Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort and the Melia Caribe Beach Resort.
