Waldorf Astoria has opened a hotel in Osaka, marking the luxury brand's foray into Japan.

The Waldorf Astoria Osaka occupies the top floors of a high-rise at the Grand Green Osaka commercial complex in Osaka's Umekita District.

The 252-room hotel blends art deco-inspired aesthetics with Japanese design influences. Among the property's top-tier accommodations are two 1,572-square-foot penthouse suites and a 2,077-square-foot presidential suite.

Food and beverage offerings include Waldorf Astoria's signature Peacock Alley lounge, the Canes & Tales cocktail bar, French restaurant Jolie Brasserie and Japanese restaurant Tsukimi, which features sushi and teppanyaki counters.

The hotel has wellness facilities, an indoor pool and 355,000 square feet of event space, including a chapel.

Alan Watts, Hilton's president for Asia Pacific, said the Osaka hotel opening is part of the company plan to "double our Waldorf Astoria portfolio in this region over the next two years." The brand has four hotels in China and one in Bangkok, plus a resort in the Maldives. The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan, the brand's second hotel in Shanghai, is expected to open in September.
