Abercrombie & Kent will open a destination management company in the United States next year to work directly with travel advisors, tour operators, cruises lines and groups on ground operations, the company announced today.
It will the first domestic land office for the company, which operates 56 other DMCs around the globe.
"There is a growing global demand for luxury experiential travel in the U.S.," said Jonathan White, executive vice president of destination management for A&K. "We feel it is important to establish our own office to guarantee the kind of insider access, personalized service and seamless attention to detail that discerning travelers expect."
Heading the U.S. operations will be Marty Behr, founder of Revealed America, a tour operator that specialized in National Parks trips. The company was purchased in 2017 by JG Worldwide, which filed for bankruptcy this summer after leaving scores of travelers and business partners in the lurch.
A&K said Behr "brings decades of experience in luxury travel in the U.S. with a strong background in itinerary design, finding the best local guides and coordinating logistics. His expert curation earned him recognition from Conde Nast Traveler as the top travel specialist for National Parks."
A&K said the office will begin operations Jan. 1, although it has not yet been determined where the office will be based.
