G Adventures wants to keep travelers moving this year with the addition of 25 new Active itineraries that prominently feature physical activities.

There are new itineraries in Japan, South Africa, Pakistan, the Balkans, Morocco, the Galapagos and Peru, with a focus on supporting local communities in the regions travelers visit. Pakistan is a new destination for G Adventures.

"Travelers are seeking authentic experiences, but active ones, too," said Yves Marceau, vice president of product for G Adventures. "Interest has soared in this category, with more travelers wanting to switch off and connect with the world on a more physical level. We've hand-picked destinations with the intention of looking beyond the usual trails and, instead, are bringing travelers to lesser-visited regions and villages, via incredible hiking routes, kayak trips and biking excursions, helping to support local communities that haven't been able to benefit from tourism in the past."

Active trips feature activities such as hiking, swimming, cycling and paddling and are graded on a physical level from 3 to 5 -- 3 (average), 4 (demanding) and 5 (challenging).

For example, an 18-day trip to Japan is rated 3 and skips Tokyo, focusing on outdoor experiences such as hiking in Hokkaido, snorkeling in Okinawa and paddling through Iriomote's mangroves.

A 15-day tour to the Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal is graded a 5.

The trips are available beginning in March.
