These three Manhattan hotels have undergone massive refurbishments and with them came some mighty fine suites. We’re here to give you the details and some insider tips.

The Surrey, A Corinthia Hotel

The Surrey, A Corinthia Hotel, has a new collection of suites. Just off Madison Avenue on 76th Street, the property reopened in October 2024 under the Corinthia flag. The Malta-based hotel company transformed the Surrey by taking down the room count to 70 guest rooms, 30 suites, and 14 private residences.

With all the changes, the 2,130-square-foot Surrey Suite stands out as the crown jewel. It has two bedrooms and a residential tone to it. We love the suite’s study, hidden behind a seamless paneled door. The two primary marble bathrooms have marble double vanities, soaking tubs, and big walk-in rain showers. Art lovers take note: The suite’s museum-worthy art program includes Jasper Johns (Cups 2 Picasso), Helen Frankenthaler, Milton Hebald and Elizabeth Gregory-Gruen.
Also in the collection are the Bethesda Grandeur, Pine Bank Bridge, and Greywacke Heritage Suites, which span1,200 to 1,300 square feet. Each has one bedroom. Corinthia Hotels is a member of the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA).

Waldorf Astoria, New York

The long-awaited reopening of the Waldorf Astoria, New York was worth the eight years if only to get a glimpse of the Waldorf Astoria Suite. Why? It was designed to have the vibe of an 18th‐century Parisian residence above that craziness of New York that we love so much. Subtle Paris touches can be seen in the Louis XVI mouldings, the white‐oak Versailles parquet floors and oh, that Louis XVI marble fireplace in the living room. Did we mention the Cole Porter Steinway piano? There’s also a dining room, kitchen and a media room. All told, the top one-bedroom suite spans 4,528 square feet and occupies the 10th floor.

Luxury travel advisors who are sending their A-list clients can contact Jasmin Howanietz, executive director of sales at [email protected].

If you feel the need to head downstairs, we suggest a visit to the Guerlain Wellness Spa, which measures 22,000 square-foot in size spa and provides “Full Longevity” and wellness programs amongst other more traditional offerings. Book reservations well ahead at [email protected].

Sofitel New York

Sofitel New York, the brand’s U.S. flagship, is showing off a fresh look and what we’re loving most is the new Penthouse on the 28th floor.

At 1,205 square feet, the suite has a dining room that seats eight and a bathroom with a freestanding circular marble soaking tub. The vibe here is Art Deco throughout and that translates into the living area, whose swanky sculptural sofas complement geometric patterns in the flooring. Hint: Turn this into a two-bedroom by booking an adjacent Signature Skyline King bedroom.

The Penthouse is part of the Suite Collection, which include two 24th-floor suites: the Grand Terrace Chrysler View Suite (with a 475-square-foot terrace with views of the Chrysler Building), and the Panoramic Terrace Suite, which has a 911-square-foot terrace with views of both the Empire and Chrysler Buildings. Both suites have 645 square feet of interior living space.

In the evening, head down to the all-new Social 45, Bar & Bistro, with a Parisian salon aesthetic. created for day into late-night dining and cocktails. Be sure to come back in the morning for a to-die-for French croissant. Good to know: An outdoor café opens in Spring 2026.
