Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett officially opened Jamaica's newest attraction in July, the Rainforest Bobsled at Mystic Mountain in Ocho Rios.
The 100-acre theme park features the Rainforest Sky Explorer, a chairlift that brings visitors up 700 feet to the mountaintop, where Rainforest Bobsled Jamaica awaits, custom-designed bobsleds on stainlesss-steel rails that transport visitors on a gravity-driven ride through the forest, evoking the glory days of the Jamaican Olympic bobsled team.
The Rainforest Zipline Canopy Tour, the third component of the new attraction, features tree-to-tree platforms that allow riders to glide through the forest on a zipline.
Mystic Mountain also features the Jamaica Railway Station and Mystic Mounain Pavilion.
Bartlett said that the new attraction "is an excellent example of private-public sector partnership working to benefit Jamaica's tourism product. Working together, public and private can accomplish far more in concert than individually."
He predicted that the attraction would be a magnet for new and returning visitors as well as for cruise passengers.
