Royal Caribbean International will operate a third preview cruise of the Star of the Seas ahead of its official maiden cruise departing Port Canaveral on Aug. 31.
The line's second Icon-class ship will now sail its first cruise on Aug. 20. It will be a three-night voyage to the Bahamas calling at the line's private island, Perfect Day at Coco Cay.
Two four-night cruises with similar itineraries were scheduled earlier this year. Royal Caribbean is calling them "showcase sailings," and they will depart on Aug. 23 and Aug. 27.
In February 2024, Royal Caribbean pushed back the Star of the Seas' debut from Aug. 17 to Aug. 31 because of an anticipated delivery delay. Two seven-night cruises were canceled.
In late January 2025, Royal Caribbean said the Star would be delivered sooner than expected, so the line scheduled the showcase cruises and gave guests booked on the Aug. 31 inaugural an opportunity to book a showcase sailing, reported Cruise Industry News.
