Mahina and Sun's, the Ed Kenney-operated restaurant opened in February 2016 at the Surfjack Hotel and Swim Club, has named Erik Leong as executive chef.

Leong has been in the restaurant industry for more than decade, previously working at Ed Kenney's Town restaurant, where he moved up the ranks from night cook to sous chef. In 2014, he helped open Kenney's second restaurant, Kaimuki Superette.

In collaboration with chef-owner Ed Kenney, Leong is responsible for curating a menu for Mahina and Sun's spotlighting seasonal Hawaiian ingredients and elevated versions of classic island dishes. Mahina and Sun's, open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, was named a finalist for Best New Restaurant by Honolulu Magazine.
