Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Hawaii have been awarded "Hotel Collection of the Year' by

This is the first year that has handed out the awards, which feature 20 categories including recognitions for bars, spas, destinations and cruises.

"The goal of the GayTravel Awards is twofold: first, to recognize and showcase select inclusive travel-related companies and destinations that resonate with our discerning audience; and second, to inspire other companies and brands around the world to continually raise their service levels and amenities while encouraging a broad spirit of inclusiveness," GayTravel chief visionary officer Steve Rohrlick said in a release.

Starwood Hotels in Hawaii were recognized for the inclusive spirit and exceptional support toward the LGBT community, according to a press release announcing the awards.  Editors from the site visited all 11 resorts Starwood operates in Hawaii.

"There is no more deserving recipient of our hotel collection award than Starwood Hotels in Hawaii," Rohrlick said. "Each of its resorts possesses a unique personality while sharing an enticing blend of natural beauty along with a warm and accepting culture."
