A number of hotel operators have opened or announced openings in the coming year in Africa.

In the Seychelles, Four Seasons will take over the Desroches Island Resort, and the resort will reopen in late 2017 after extensive renovations. The Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island will have 40 beach suites (each with a private plunge pool) and 11 villa residences. The property, which is a 35-minute flight from the Seychelles' capital of Mahe, features about nine miles of beaches on the Indian Ocean as well as coconut groves. Upon reopening, the resort will offer water activities such as diving, snorkeling and fishing as well as land sports like cycling and hiking.

Also in the Seychelles, Six Senses is opening Zil Pasyon on Flicit, a private island where massive granite rocks and white sand beaches create an air of drama and beauty. The resort includes 28 one-bedroom pool villas and a pair of two-bedroom pool villas ranging from 2,150 square feet to 5,380 square feet plus 17 private residences. Six Senses Zil Pasyon will offer six dining and bar venues on the island, sport and leisure facilities, three pristine sandy beaches and an outdoor main pool. A highlight of any Six Senses resort is Six Senses Spa. To book, email [email protected] or visit www.sixsenses.com.

In Botswana, Cresta Hotels is opening a hotel in Maun, a city known as a gateway to the Okavango Delta. Group operations manager Jonathan Cox said the 83-room Cresta Maun Resort is set to open in early 2017. A 15-minute drive from Maun Airport, the resort will be well situated for adventure-seekers, vacationers and business travelers alike,  he said. For more information, visit www.crestahotels.com.

In South Africa, Leeu Estates, a five-star boutique property with 17 rooms and suites, has opened its doors. The 19th century property is located on roughly 170 acres of vineyards, landscaped gardens and fynbos (shrubs and heathland vegetation), with views of the Franschhoek Valley. Each room features curated artworks and sculptures and marble bathrooms, and many have their own terraces and fireplaces. Room rates at Leeu Estates start from about $560 for two people sharing a classic room and include breakfast, unlimited internet access and national phone calls, a tasting of Mullineux & Leeu wines per guest per stay and taxes.
