Fort Lauderdale, long heralded as a spring break destination, is making a play for a more cultured crowd these days. The city's CVB has announced a partnership with the Cultural Heritage Alliance for Tourism to offer three cultural tour experiences for visitors. The tours are now available for booking.

The immersive experiences feature tours through the city's Sistrunk corridor and the downtown Riverwalk area, lined with historical buildings along the rail line. President and CEO of the CVB, Stacy Ritter, said in a statement, "Greater Fort Lauderdale goes far beyond just beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife; the destination offers so many off-the-beaten-path attractions in its heritage neighborhoods and multicultural communities."

The three tours are Historic Sistrunk Gospel Brunch Tour Experience, the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk Heritage Tour & Tasting Experience and the Fort Lauderdale Black Heritage Tour & Tasting Experience.

Historic Sistrunk Gospel Brunch includes a bus tour of the neighborhood, a church service at the Mount Hermon AME Church, a Southern-inspired brunch and a presentation of the history of gospel music.

Highlights of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk Heritage Tour & Tasting are a tour of the Riverside Hotel, a visit to the Stranahan House Museum, a tour of Old Fort Lauderdale Village and a tasting at various eateries in the area.

Those choosing the Fort Lauderdale Black Heritage Tour & Tasting will take a bus tour of the Sistrunk corridor as well as tours of the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, Woodlawn cemetery and the Old Dillard Museum and a tasting of Southern foods from several area restaurants.

Each tour is $65 per person and include a professional guide; brunch or food tastings; and admission fees to the attractions.
