Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection released
renderings of the Mekong Jewel, one of three new Super Ships it is building.
The all-suite ship, due to launch in 2020, will be one of
the most luxurious on the Mekong. The ship will have the same capacity as
Uniworld’s Mekong Navigator but will be 33 feet longer, offering more space and
amenities, including an al fresco eatery on the upper deck.
The ship is being constructed with sustainable and
eco-friendly materials, such as special paint on the hull that creates less
drag, energy-efficient propellers, LED light fixtures and a water-cooled air
conditioning system.
A look at the upcoming Mekong Jewel
The Jewel will sail 13-day itineraries from Ho Chi Minh City
to Siem Reap, with visits to Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat among other ports of
call.
In 2020, Uniworld also will launch the S.S. Sphinx on the
Nile (sailing out of Cairo) and the S.S. Sao Gabriel on Portugal's Douro River. In
addition, the Venice-based River Countess will be renamed S.S. La Venezia after a total
renovation.
