The Star Alliance has granted approval for ITA Airways to begin the integration process into the alliance.
Italy's flag carrier is expected to officially join the alliance as a full member in early 2026, Star Alliance CEO Theo Panagiotoulias said.
ITA is part of Lufthansa Group, which will "mentor ITA Airways through its integration into Star Alliance." Upon completion, the Star Alliance network will grow to 26 member airlines, offering more than 18,000 daily flights.
