San Antonio will get its first European route next summer.

Germany's Condor will operate three-times weekly to the Texas city from its home base in Frankfurt between May 17 and Sept. 6.

"We fully believe San Antonio will utilize this service to Europe and take advantage of Condor's extremely competitive airfares," the city's director of airports, Jesus Saenz said. "Once that happens, we anticipate Condor will expand their services even further."

Mayor Ron Nirenberg called the announcement "a spectacular win for San Antonio."

This month, 41 U.S. airports are offering at least one weekly flight to Europe, Cirium flight schedule data shows.

Condor will fly to San Antonio using an Airbus A330-900neo with business, premium economy and economy cabins.

The addition of San Antonio brings Condor to 13 U.S. destinations next summer.
