United Airlines will launch flights between San Francisco and Brisbane on Oct. 28.

The thrice-weekly service will make the Australian city the first transpacific destination to be added by any U.S. carrier since the start of the pandemic, United said.

The carrier will fly the route with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft equipped with 48 Polaris business class seats, 21 Premium Plus seats, 39 Economy Plus seats and 149 economy seats.

United will be the lone carrier flying between San Francisco and Brisbane, Cirium flight schedule data shows. The lone other nonstop service from the U.S. to Brisbane is operated out of Los Angeles by Qantas.

United customers will be able to connect from Brisbane to nearly 20 Australia destinations via United's new codeshare partnership with Virgin Australia.

United's other Australia routes are San Francisco-Sydney, San Francisco-Melbourne, Los Angeles-Sydney and Los Angeles-Melbourne.
