AAA has introduced a new award, the Inspector's Best of
Housekeeping, honoring hotels that achieve the highest scores for cleanliness and
condition.
AAA currently has 27,000 Inspected & Approved hotels. To
receive that designation and a AAA Diamond Rating, hotels have to meet
cleanliness and condition standards. The new award honors hotels that "significantly
surpass expectations," AAA said in a statement.
"All areas of the property must reflect this very high
standard as AAA inspectors review for evidence of dirt, dust, pests, equipment
performance and more," AAA said.
All of AAA's Inspected & Approved hotels may qualify for
the designation. In order to qualify, a hotel has to demonstrate housekeeping
excellence for two consecutive inspections as well as be free of member
complaints. Those that are awarded Best of Housekeeping represent the top 25%
of all AAA hotels.
Best of Housekeeping hotels are eligible to use a badge
to market and promote the designation.
"AAA has found that cleanliness and physical condition
are consistently among the most important components travelers consider when
looking for a hotel," said Michael Petrone, director of AAA inspections
and Diamond Ratings. "This new designation identifies hotels with exceptional
practices."
