InterContinental Hotel Group's first Avid hotel is due to
open in the third quarter of 2018 in Oklahoma City, and it will be owned by Champion
Hotels, the developer that opened the first Tru by Hilton in Oklahoma City
earlier this year.
Avid and Tru by Hilton are both new brands in the midscale
sector.
The Avid Hotel Oklahoma City Quail Springs will have 87
rooms covering four floors. All Avid hotels will feature an open and airy entry;
communal spaces where guests can relax, work, connect or eat; guest rooms
sound-reducing features, a dedicated workspace and ample storage space. The
rate will include WiFi and breakfast.
IHG announced its intention to launch a midscale brand in
June, and in September unveiled the name Avid. IHG said it has 34 signed
agreements for Avid hotels across the U.S.
