Crystal has taken delivery of a customized Boeing 777 passenger jet which it will use for chartered tours.

The plane, called Crystal Skye, was handed over in a ceremony at Boeing Field in Seattle.  Crystal said it is the world’s largest privately owned tour jet.

Commercial airlines outfit the twin-engine widebody plane with between 314 and 396 seats. Crystal’s configuration will be for 88 passengers in lie-flat bed-style seats.

The plane’s interior was customized for Crystal by Greenpoint Technologies, with the aim of consistency with the company’s cruise ships.

Crystal Skye features a 24-seat lounge with a central bar, sofas, custom coved ceilings, the largest wine cellar in the sky and ample space to socialize, Crystal said. Stone veneers and colored LED lighting adorn the interior.

Crystal plans a christening ceremony in Las Vegas on Aug. 12 during Virtuoso’s annual conference there.
