In the subset of travel that ends in "moon," first came the honeymoon, then the babymoon, and for some, the "start-anew-moon" following a divorce.

Now, Expedia says, there's the "mega moon," or couples planning to go big on their honeymoons following pandemic-related trip disruptions.

Expedia polled 1,500 couples and found that 53% plan to spend more than they initially budgeted on their honeymoons, and 59% are interested in honeymooning in a bucket-list destination.

"Coming out of the pandemic, couples are clearly determined to have an epic honeymoon," said Christie Hudson, head of U.S. public relations for Expedia.

Expedia's poll also uncovered a couple more types of "moons": the "duo-moon," where couples plan multiple honeymoons like a quick trip after the wedding and a longer trip later, and the "redo-moon," where couples want a do-over of a pandemic honeymoon.

In its survey, 83% of respondents in a relationship indicated they were planning a duo-moon, while 54% of married couples said they wanted a redo-moon.
