London is abuzz with luxury news with hotels completing major renovations and introducing new suites as part of their big reveal.
Atop our list is the opening of Six Senses London within The Whiteley, the former Whiteley’s emporium (department store) on Bayswater’s Queensway.
The property, which is close to Hyde Park and Notting Hill, has 109 rooms and suites, several with private terraces. Luxury touches include glass rain showers, towering windows, inky blues and warm woods blend with bold lines and Art Deco curves. The Whiteley Suite is the place to book for top clients; it has a 1,350-square-foot roof terrace and has the option to create a private floor.
Wellness is a staple of the Six Senses ethos, and it’s delivered in style in London with a 25,000-square-foot spa, which has 13 treatment rooms that offer cryotherapy, flotation, red-light and sensory therapies. There are two pools and one of them is London’s first magnesium pool, which supports muscular recovery and nervous system regulation.
The general manager at the hotel is Nick Yarnell, he has served as the regional manager for Six Senses Europe and as well as hotel manager for the Four Seasons Resort Marrakech. Yarnell has been working on the London opening since January 2023.

Minor Hotels says it will open its first Colbert Collection property in the UK in the fourth quarter of this year. Colbert Collection is a new brand for Minor Hotels; it’s a group of independent hotels with a focus on culinary excellence and social connection.
The WestDill Mayfair Hotel London, Colbert Collection will be a five-star property with 50 guest rooms and suites across six floors. It’s being carved out of the former NatWest bank and offices and has a great city center location at the corner of Piccadilly and Albemarle streets. The building is Grade II listed, which means its classic architecture is being retained and celebrated.
Bobby Hiranandani, co-chairman of Royal Group of Companies, which owns the property, sees the hotel’s development as part of the continued renaissance of Mayfair and the wider West End. “By reactivating a distinguished heritage building on Piccadilly, we are not only preserving its legacy but also introducing a thoughtfully curated hospitality experience that will enhance the character, energy, and global appeal of the precinct,” he said.
The hotel, designed for business and leisure, is just a couple of minutes’ walk from Green Park tube, with direct access to Heathrow Airport, and close to Victoria Station.
Sofitel London St James redesigns its suites

Sofitel London St James tapped Paris-based interior architecture studio Pierre-Yves Rochon to redesign its top six accommodations and we’re here for it.
The revamped inventory includes Four Prestige Suites and two flagship suites, Suite 70 and The Opera Suite. Their opening means that the hotel’s overall renovation and redesign is wrapped up.
Suite 70 brings Sofitel’s French vibe to town with palettes inspired by the 1970s: think, orange, deep green, brown, black, and white hues. Wall artworks and accessories are inspired by concert posters and album covers from the era and there’s even a vintage-style record player.
The Opera Suite has a more traditional tone. At 1,170-square feet, it has views of Waterloo Place with subtle touches of the seventies throughout.
Pierre-Yves Rochon said in a prepared statement, “I hope these rooms bring back the thrill and fun of the seventy's icons - that bold, playful energy, which spread throughout the era and made individuals feel that anything was possible. It is a space where guests can feel a little more daring, taking them back to defiant times, right in the heart of London.”
Sofitel has been renovating and redesigning its flagship properties worldwide and recently wrapped up major projects at the Sofitel New York, the Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile in North America, as well as Sofitel Sydney Wentworth in Australia.

The Garden Suite works for those who seek quietude; it overlooks the hotel's private garden. It has a large, landscaped terrace; inside, there’s a separate dining room and living room.
The Grand Suite is for those traveling for both business and leisure, thanks to its large terrace and an open floor plan for its living and dining areas.
Good to know: Several suites can be interconnected, with the option to convert into expansive two- or three-bedroom residences - ideal for families or groups.

Wait, there’s more! We hear that The Dorchester in London will debut its new Royal Suite on June 1.
The grand reveal will mark the wrap-up of the hotel’s guestroom renovations, considered a significant project for the flagship of the Dorchester Collection, which currently comprises 10 hotels, including Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris, the Hotel Eden in Rome and the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
The Royal Suite, on the eighth floor, overlooks Hyde Park. Its configuration allows for up to four rooms to be connected, creating a combined space of more than 5,150 square feet, making it one of the largest suites on London’s competitive luxury hotel scene.
What we love: The primary bedroom has a large dressing area and a marble-clad bathroom including a double shower. Other luxe touches include a fireplace in the principal sitting room and a dining room for up to 10; it overlooks the park as well. The suite has a separate study.
The suite was designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon, who was tasked with the major renovation of The Dorchester’s Promenade, Artists’ Bar, public areas, guest rooms, and suites.
