Bonaire has reopened to U.S. travelers, although until February when U.S. air service resumes travelers have to transit in Curacao and connect with a regional carrier to reach Bonaire.
Getting to Bonaire will get easier next month. Delta plans to resume weekly Saturday service from Atlanta on Feb. 6; American will relaunch its twice-weekly Airbus A319 service on Wednesdays and Saturdays from Miami beginning Feb. 13, and United will offer a weekly flight from Houston starting Feb. 13.
Passengers who transit in Curacao must adhere to Curacao's entry regulations as well as meet the requirements for Bonaire once they reach their final destination.
Responding to strong demand for travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands, Frontier Airlines announced new service between Miami and St. Thomas beginning March 7 on Sundays and Thursdays.
Earlier the carrier said it would start service between Orlando and St. Thomas on Mondays and Fridays, beginning Feb. 19.
"We are thankful for this partnership with Frontier as the carrier works to meet existing demand and to create new demand for travel to the USVI with affordable fares," said Joseph Boschulte, the USVI's commissioner of tourism.
