The PGA Tour has reached an agreement to continue holding three championship golf tournaments in Hawaii, the state tourism authority announced.
The Hawaii Tourism Authority and PGA Tour have partnered to bring top-level golf tournaments to the Aloha State since 2001, and last month the state hosted the Sentry Tournament of Champions on Maui, Sony Open in Hawaii on Oahu, and Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai on the island of Hawaii.
The new agreement extends the partnership four years, through 2022.
"When the New Year begins, the world of golf turns its attention to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands for championship tournaments in an unmatched setting," HTA president and CEO George D. Szigeti said in a statement. "The renewal of this official marketing partnership with the PGA Tour exemplifies HTA's sports marketing strategy to collaborate with major sports brands that bolster tourism."
