The new Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach held its grand opening celebration Jan. 19.
Hyatt debuted its lifestyle brand Centric in 2015 and has converted existing properties and opened new locations under the name. Located in the former Waikiki Trade Center, the first hotel under the brand in Hawaii started welcoming guests in December.
The hotel features 230 rooms and suites, starting at $229 per night, done in a modern design by Design 360 Unlimited with floor-to-ceiling windows. The property, which includes a lounge pool with fire pits and a 24/7 fitness room, was developed by Chartres Lodging Group and CoastWood Capital.
The hotel's bar and Pacific fusion restaurant has been dubbed the Lanai, and is helmed by chef Yoshi Ohata.
"We are thrilled to open doors as an anchor of Kuhio Avenue's renaissance," general manager Charles Young said in a release. "Our team has worked tirelessly to transform the historic building into a platform for guests to explore and discover the best of Waikiki's urban setting."
The renovation of the former Waikiki Trade Center began in summer 2015, and the space now includes a Nordstrom Rack, Starbucks and Jamba Juice.
