The Kau Coffee Festival is ready to mark a decade of caffeine-fueled fun when it returns to the Island of Hawaii this year.
The festival held at the Pahala Community Center will celebrate its 10th year April 21 to May 6. In addition to the opportunity to try many different roasts of the Kau region coffee beans, the festival includes a variety of activities.
There is a Miss Kau Coffee Pageant, a recipe contest, stargazing sessions, farm tours and a mountaintop hike to see the water systems irrigating Hawaii Island's coffee fields.
The two-week festival closes with a hoolaulea, or community celebration, held on May 5 featuring live entertainment, hula performances, coffee-inspired art, food and other activities.
