A Neil Young retrospective photography exhibit is coming to Maui on Jan. 12.
"Long May You Run" will open at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in Maui at Fleetwood's General Store on Front Street.
Young, a Grammy-award winner and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is still performing and producing albums at age 71. The photographs in "Long May You Run" show Young in various stages of his life and career, and in many different settings backstage, onstage, at rest and on the road. The exhibit follows Young from his early days in Buffalo Springfield, to his time in Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, into his more recent collaborations with Pearl Jam and others.
The exhibit features work by photographers Julie Gardner, Joel Bernstein, Henry Diltz and Danny Clinch. Diltz and Bernstein's images chronicle the early decades of Young's formative years with Buffalo Springfield, CSN&Y and when he went out on his own. Danny Clinch's images capture the 1990s until now, while Julie Gardner has been photographing the rocker more recently as he enters his sixth decade in the spotlight.
This exhibit previously visited the Morrison Hotel Gallery at the Sunset Marquis Hotel in Los Angeles in November and the New York City location in December. This is the first exhibit in the gallery's history to open at all three locations within a three-month time span.
