The Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa's $26.5-million renovation is now underway at the property on Kaanapali Beach.
The renovations are focused on the resort's 508 guestrooms and suites. The new guestroom design by AHL (formerly Architects Hawaii Ltd.) will modernize the living and bathroom spaces with new furnishings, textiles, decor and artwork. Different buildings will be themed to reflect the styles and cultures of the three islands in Maui County: Maui, Molokai and Lanai.
The Anuenue and Nalu buildings will reflect the culture and colors of Maui, utilizing warm pinks and reds. The Lahaina and Ohana buildings will be themed for Lanai, featuring orange and blue tones. The Moana and Hoku buildings, honoring Molokai, will be redone using cool aquas and vibrant greens.
"The guestroom transformation will redefine the guest experience, introducing a contemporary look and feel, while preserving the rich history that Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa is known for," Tetsuji Yamazaki, general manager of the resort said in a statement.
The Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa sits on 23 oceanfront acres at Puu Kekaa (Black Rock) and will celebrate its 55th anniversary Jan. 23.
The renovations are scheduled to be completed in summer.
