Tania Hancock, a longtime sales manager for Visit Anchorage, died at her home in Anchorage on June 20. Hancock was 50 years old.

Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, Hancock was raised in various U.S. West Coast cities before settling in Fairbanks, Alaska, where she completed high school.

Her career in Alaska tourism began as a bartender on Westours rail cars before she moved on to a 19-year career with Visit Anchorage.

A service was held for Hancock on June 28 at the Alaska Aviation Museum. Those who so desire can make memorial donations in her memory to Make-A-Wish Alaska or the Alaska Chapter of the American Red Cross.
