American Express is partnering with independent lounge
operator MAG USA to open a Centurion Lounge and an Escape Lounge at Phoenix Sky
Harbor Airport later this year.
The lounges will share an entrance in the airport’s Terminal
4 but will have separate reception areas and occupy separate spaces with
separate amenities. Combined, they will span 9,500 square feet.
Phoenix is the 15th announced location for a Centurion
Lounge. American Express currently operates nine such lounges, which are open
only to holders of the company’s Platinum and Centurion cards. Centurion
Lounges at New York JFK, Denver, Los Angeles, London Heathrow and Charlotte airports
are slated to open before the end of next year.
Phoenix is the 17th announced location for an Escape Lounge
and the 12th in the U.S. Eight U.S. Escape Lounges are currently operating.
Escape Lounges are available to the general public for a daily fee. Entry costs
$40 in advance and $45 at the door. The lounges are part of American Express'
Global Lounge Collection, which provides free access to Platinum and Centurion
cardholders.
Both lounges will offer a mix of free food and beverages as
well as showers, charging stations, magazines and newspapers and flight
displays.
Separately, American Express announced the release of a mobile
check-in for Centurion lounges. Individuals can begin the check-in process 30
minutes before their planned arrival at the lounge.
