JetBlue will begin flying daily between New York Kennedy and the Ecuadoran port city of Guayaquil on Dec. 5. The flight will be JetBlue's longest at just under 3,000 miles.

JetBlue said it will be able to operate the route thanks to the upcoming addition of the Airbus A321neo to its fleet. JetBlue will take delivery of its first A321neo this spring with entry into service scheduled for the summer. The aircraft is 20% more fuel-efficient than older generation A321s and can fly 500 nautical miles farther, JetBlue said.

JetBlue will compete on the New York-Guayaquil route with LATAM Ecuador. JetBlue already flies to Guayaquil from Fort Lauderdale.
