Southwest will begin flying to Fresno and Santa Barbara, Calif., during the second quarter of next year.
With their addition, Southwest will serve 13 destinations in the Golden State. The carrier has not yet announced specific routes from the two communities.
Fresno and Santa Barbara are just the latest new markets Southwest has decided to enter during the pandemic as it as it chases what demand remains while reducing frequencies on many long-standing routes.
Other new airports that the carrier has begun serving or plans to serve include Miami and Sarasota in Florida; Houston Bush; Chicago O'Hare; Palm Springs, Calif.; Montrose, Steamboat Springs and Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Jackson, Miss.
