Southwest will begin serving Colorado Springs, Colo.; Savannah, Ga.; and Jackson, Miss., during the first half of 2021.

The additions will be part of the carrier's recently articulated strategy to broaden its network during the Covid-19 pandemic even as it reduces frequencies on many of its most-traveled routes.

The carrier has also recently announced plans to launch service at Houston Bush and Chicago O'Hare and in Miami; Palm Springs, Calif.; and Montrose and Steamboat Springs, Colo.

"These additional service points on our map are low-risk opportunities we can provide customers now, all the while better positioning Southwest as travel demand rebounds," Southwest said in a statement.
