Abercrombie & Kent will resume operating small group tours this week, with the first one a Tanzania trip with a climb up Mount Kilimanjaro.

Future 2020 tours are scheduled to operate elsewhere on the continent, such as a Great Migration Safari in Style and Egypt & the Nile tours that include four nights on a Nile cruise. Since the pandemic began, A&K has only offered private tours.

A&K said these small-group journeys offer physical distancing with private transfers, vehicles never more than half full, and an average group size of 14 guests. Additionally, A&K has established enhanced health and safety protocols.

"Our guests are looking for places that offer wide open spaces and lend themselves to physical distancing, or the novelty of exploring a completely new destination, knowing they're safe in the A&K cocoon," said A&K founder Geoffrey Kent in a statement. "This is Africa's moment. Safaris are a natural fit as we begin travelling again, featuring small boutique camps with plenty of space and privacy. Plus, tourism plays an important role in protecting endangered wildlife, not only by keeping poachers at bay, but also bringing much-needed funding to local conservation projects."

The tour operator said that it is seeing interest into 2021 for destinations such as Botswana, Southern Africa, Morocco, Jordan & Israel, Alaska and the Galapagos Islands.

A&K offers a flexible booking policy which allows cancellations for Covid-19 related reasons through 2021, as well as guaranteeing every departure will operate with a minimum of two guests.
