Palace Resorts said that as of Aug. 7 its properties would no longer be sold through Apple Leisure Group (ALG) brands, including Apple Vacations, Travel Impressions, Funjet Vacations and CheapCaribbean.com.

Palace is the third all-inclusive operator to end its relationship with ALG since ALG's merger last year with FunJet's former parent, the Mark Travel Corporation.

Last August, ALG parted ways with Playa Resorts and its brands (including Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara, Jewel Resorts, two Hiltons and Sanctuary Cap Cana). Prior to that, Sandals pulled its resort inventory, including Beaches, from Funjet.

Both companies' all-inclusive resorts compete with ALG's AMResorts division; its brands include Zoetry, Secrets, Breathless and Dreams.

In a statement, ALG said that Palace Resorts had informed it on August 5 that it was terminating its relationship with ALG.

"Occasionally, our model can cause angst or uncertainty with a supplier because it is very unique," said Ray Snisky, chief commercial officer of ALG Vacations. "We overcome that with effective communication, strategic alignment and collaborative production. The reality, which has been shared many times previously, is that the great majority of all of the business of the ALG vacation brands goes to hotel partners outside of AMResorts. That always has been, and remains true today."

Palace said it would honor all ALG bookings taken as of Aug. 7.

It further said that it was strengthening its strategic partnerships with its other tour operator partners, including GOGO Worldwide Vacations, Delta Vacations, Classic Vacations and Pleasant Holidays, and it said it would "solidify its existing business relationships, including cohesive strategies with sales teams, to provide better support to the travel agency community."
