Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts has opened in Cartagena, the brand’s third hotel in the country of Colombia (there are two in Bogotá). The hotel includes a series of historic buildings connected via courtyards and passageways.
Of note are the two rooftop pools with panoramic city and harbor views and the lobby with a grand staircase and a soaring glass atrium. Unique accommodations include 27 colonial-style rooms and suites within the hotel’s heritage buildings. The property's contemporary rooms and suites are accessed via passageways and courtyards, a quiet complement to the Getsemaní neighborhood outside, which is filled with plazas, galleries, shops and cafés.

There are 131 accommodations in all and we hear the best in the house is the two-bedroom Catroux Suite – that's the hotel’s presidential suite which has private elevator access. Nice Touch: The suite, named after the late designer François Catroux, has a furnished terrace with a Moorish inspired ceramic fountain. Four Seasons Hotel Cartagena was one of Catroux’s last projects.
Four Seasons Hotel Cartagena is just steps from the UNESCO World Heritage Site Walled City, the famed Camellón de los Mártires, the Parque Centenario and the convention center next door.
A limited number of Private Residences are housed within the hotel; they are fully serviced by Four Seasons and have access to all hotel amenities.
All told, there are eight restaurant and bar venues, including the Grand Grill (a steakhouse) and the chic Bar Lelarge. Both are in the former Club Cartagena, a 1920s landmark building.
Umari Spa, which has six treatment rooms (including a couple’s suite), is in a restored heritage building; its treatments incorporate Colombian botanicals and other natural ingredients with ancestral healing traditions.
The hotel is targeting meeting planners as well with several venues for business meetings, social gatherings and weddings. The centerpiece is the Ballroom de la Veracruz, which holds up to 300 guests.
