Abercrombie & Kent is going to Iran for the first time via its lower-priced Connections by A&K brand.

The 12-day "Persia: A Tapestry of Ancient and Modern Iran" will include Persepolis, Pasargadae and the expansive Meidan Emam complex in Isfahan.

"Tourism is only just starting to flourish [in Iran] ... a land rarely experienced by American travelers," A&K said.

Travelers will visit a total of seven Unesco World Heritage Sites and will experience a traditional Iranian musical performance, visit an artist's workshop, speak with a university professor, visit a carpet shop, and explore mosques throughout the country.

The tour has departures on May 4, Sept. 14 and Oct. 5 and 26. The price starts at $5,695 per person, based on double occupancy.
