Pandemic response

Immediate response was to eliminate as many costs as possible without impacting customer service or product development.

Right-sized traveler services team to align with lower travel volume.

Asked team to take salary cut for three months; reduced senior leadership salaries indefinitely.

Temporarily made deep cuts in sales, marketing and new customer acquisition.

Quickly built functionality to automate handling of airline waivers and provide self-service options for customers wanting to rebook their own tickets when waivers applied.

Compiled Covid resource center on travel advisories and supplier policies.

Built own messaging platform to provide better, faster service to customers who reach out by chat, text, Slack or other messaging channels.

Accelerated development of agent booking platform. When finished, the system will improve efficiency of traveler services team, automate many manual processes and increase response times to customer inquiries.

Put plans for new brands on hold, including consumer website Qtrip and Bounce for small businesses.

Made upgrades to air shopping and hotel shopping experiences.

Looking ahead

"Extremely bullish" on future of business travel. Growing economy will accelerate need for in-person connection, for which there is already pent-up demand.

Although business travel remains down, domestic business travel has picked up and will accelerate when conferences and events resume and employees return to their offices.
