Company facts

Private company with sales mix of 50% business, 48% leisure, 2% other.

Host agency works with 527 independent contractors.

Member of Uniglobe Travel, Virtuoso.

Owned by eight active managing partners.

Pandemic response

No changes to operation in first few months of pandemic while processing cancellations, refunds.

Did not renew two expiring leases, consolidating those operations with other offices.

With technology already in place, swiftly converted to work-at-home environment.

Furloughed about 10% of staff and established reduced hours for remaining staff.

With much downtime, implemented mandated training webinars and exchange forums with Uniglobe colleagues across the U.S.

Approved for Paycheck Protection Program funds, Economic Injury Disaster Loan and state aid. Applied for employee-retention credits.

Looking ahead

Cautiously optimistic with slight uptick in corporate bookings and many inquiries for leisure bookings.

Leisure bookings will come back first since there is so much pent-up demand, especially for domestic, Mexico and Caribbean.

Corporate travel is more complicated. For firms not providing essential services, many are being cautious on policies they implement. They are analyzing the purpose of each trip, determining if a virtual meeting could achieve objectives.

Small and midsize companies may be less risk-averse than large companies in allowing travel to return.
